The little lizard living in my belly

Friday, January 26th, 2007

This week has been the most interesting week of the pregnancy so far, for me that is. I have felt the alien lizard baby move. For the first few instances I just thought I had a strange case of gas, a tiny ticklish gas, rolling in my belly. Only to come to the conclusion, this is not gas! So I consulted an expert, my Friend Laura, mother of two. She told me how to make sure I was feeling the baby, by lying still on my stomach and waiting, “to feel it.” I felt it! The best way I can describe this is to say, it feels like I’ve caught a lizard and put it in the pit of my belly. Maybe not the most eloquent description, but that’s what it feels like.

Our alien lizard baby is about the size of an avocado these days, and I’m told I should enjoy these flutters in my belly, for soon the baby will be big enough that it’s movement will not be so cute, and enjoyable. I’m anxiously awaiting the day that Cliff can see or feel the movement as well.

Upgraded the blog software today.

I upgraded (minor version, 2.0.5 to 2.0.7) the Wordpress installation this evening. I think I got everything backed up, and copied, and configured in the way the developers suggested. There is always the possibility I messed something up.

If something is not working, and you can’t express it with the Blog, shoot me an email to webmaster at akridge.org and I will see what I can do.

There may be another upgrade soon, as Wordpress 2.1.0 will be released soon. I’ll try to break that as well. :-D

Latest news from the doctor

We went in for a check-up. All things are normal. Chris’s ketones were a bit high. This could have been from the morning workout, and a little dehydration, so they are going to keep an eye on that. This could be Gestational Diabetes, or a false-positive. We will just have to wait and see.

We have a prediction on the baby: a lady that works with my dad has predicted a girl. This is due to the morning sickness Chris has been having. She stated that the dual hormones of two females in one body are the cause. We’ll just have to see, won’t we? :-)

We are starting the process of getting our house ready to put on the market. (No word yet on where we would go if it sold.) This is worse than moving! Its just like moving, in that you pack all the stuff you are not going to need to survive this week, but can’t put it in the place you are going, so it sucks even worse!
